What is Meta Muse?

Meta Muse is the name Aura AI uses for Muse Image, the image generation model that Meta Superintelligence Labs released on July 7, 2026, alongside Muse Video. It is the first media model from the lab Meta set up under Alexandr Wang. Muse Image powers image creation in the Meta AI app, on meta.ai, in Instagram Stories in the US and in WhatsApp in a limited set of countries, and Meta has also made it available through third-party APIs.

Meta describes Muse Image as an agentic system rather than a plain text-to-image model. It builds on Muse Spark, Meta's language model, and the two share tools and plan jointly. In practice Muse Image can reason through a request before generating, call web search to ground a picture in current information or real visual references, and improve with more test-time compute on hard prompts. It performs single-image and multi-image editing and keeps results coherent across several editing turns. Meta reported second place on Arena for text-to-image, single-image editing and multi-image editing by human preference Elo as of July 5, 2026.

On Aura AI, Meta Muse comes in three text-to-image tiers: Muse Image at 1 credit, the premium Muse Image tier at 2 credits and the Muse flagship at 4 credits per image, each with a matching edit mode at the same price. All tiers run in five aspect ratios on every plan, without watermark. Its closest rivals in the studio are Nano Banana, GPT Image 2 and FLUX 2, all one click away in the same model selector.

Meta Muse Capabilities

Six things that make Meta's first image model different

Reasons Before It Draws

Muse Image plans the picture the way a language model plans an answer. Meta reports that quality rises with more test-time compute, which is what the higher tiers on Aura AI are for.

Web-Grounded Generation

The model learned to search online when a prompt depends on real-world knowledge, so a request about a specific landmark, product category or current event can be grounded in actual references.

Single-Image Editing

Upload a picture and describe the change. Meta Muse Edit applies it with precision and keeps everything you did not mention intact. Three edit tiers on Aura AI at 1, 2 and 4 credits.

Multi-Image Editing

Combine several photos into one result: a product into a scene, two people into one frame, a logo onto packaging. Meta reported second place on Arena's multi-image editing board at launch.

Coherent Across Turns

Edit, then edit again. The model maintains coherence across multiple editing rounds, so a five-step retouch does not drift away from the original subject.

Three Price Tiers

Aura AI exposes Meta Muse at 1, 2 and 4 credits so you can match the spend to the job: quick drafts at 1 credit, client work at 2, and the flagship for final hero images and hard composites.

How to Use Meta Muse on Aura AI

Four steps from prompt to a downloadable image

  1. Open the Text to Image tool to generate from scratch, or the Image Editor to change an existing picture. Sign in with your Aura AI account.
  2. Pick the tier in the model selector: Muse Image (1 credit), the premium Muse Image tier (2 credits) or the Muse flagship (4 credits). Choose one of the five aspect ratios. The cost shows before you generate.
  3. Write the prompt as a brief. Muse Image reads full sentences and benefits from context: who the image is for, what it must include, what real-world thing it should resemble. For edits, describe only the change.
  4. Generate, review and download without watermark. If the 1 or 2 credit tier misses a detail, re-run the same prompt on the flagship rather than rewriting from scratch.

What to Make with Meta Muse

Where reasoning, grounding and multi-image editing pay off

Product Composites

Drop a real product photo into a generated scene, or merge two photos into one shot. Multi-image editing keeps the product's shape, label and color intact.

Example Prompt: "Place this water bottle on a rocky trail ledge at sunrise, hiker's hand resting beside it, keep the label exactly as in the photo, 4:3"

Knowledge-Heavy Prompts

Images that depend on how a real thing looks: a specific architectural style, a regional dish, a sports kit. Web grounding gives the flagship tier a better chance of getting details right.

Example Prompt: "Editorial photo of a plate of authentic Sicilian pasta alla Norma on a rustic table in Catania, natural light, overhead angle, 1:1"

Social Content at Volume

The 1 credit tier is built for the daily feed: story backgrounds, quote cards, quick illustrations. Generate ten, keep three, upgrade the winner on the 2 credit tier.

Example Prompt: "Bright flat-lay of a desk with a laptop, coffee and notebook, pastel palette, plenty of space at the top for a caption, 9:16"

Iterative Retouching

Fix a portrait in several passes: background first, then wardrobe, then lighting. Coherence across editing turns keeps the subject the same person from the first step to the last.

Example Prompt: "Step 2 of 3: keep the face and pose, change the background to a plain warm grey studio wall, soften the shadows under the chin"

Meta Muse FAQ

Common questions about Meta Muse on Aura AI

What is Meta Muse? +
Meta Muse refers to Muse Image, the first image generation model built by Meta Superintelligence Labs, released on July 7, 2026 together with Muse Video. It is an agentic model: it can reason about a prompt before drawing, search the web to ground an image in current facts and visual references, and edit one or several images while staying coherent across editing turns. It shares tools with Muse Spark, Meta's language model. On Aura AI it is available in three tiers at 1, 2 and 4 credits per image.
How many credits does Meta Muse cost on Aura AI? +
Meta Muse has three text-to-image tiers on Aura AI: Muse Image at 1 credit, the premium Muse Image tier at 2 credits and the Muse flagship at 4 credits per image. The image editor mirrors them: Muse Image Edit costs 1 credit, the premium Muse Image Edit tier costs 2 credits and the flagship Muse Edit costs 4 credits. All five aspect ratios cost the same and only successful generations are charged.
Which plan do I need to use Meta Muse? +
Every Meta Muse tier is available on every Aura AI plan: Starter ($14/mo), Pro ($59/mo) and Premium ($99/mo). Each plan includes a monthly credit allowance that works across all image and video models, on web, iOS, Android and Windows.
Which Meta Muse tier should I pick? +
Start with the 1 credit Muse Image tier for drafts, social posts and quick variations. Move to the premium Muse Image tier at 2 credits when you need more detail and better prompt adherence for client-facing work. Reserve the 4 credit flagship for the hardest requests: multi-image composites, knowledge-heavy prompts and final hero images where quality matters more than cost. The same logic applies to the three edit tiers.
How does Meta Muse compare to Nano Banana and GPT Image 2? +
Meta reported that Muse Image ranked second on Arena for text-to-image, single-image editing and multi-image editing by human preference Elo as of July 5, 2026, and press coverage of Meta's internal benchmarks placed it behind GPT Image 2 but ahead of Nano Banana 2 on editing tasks. On Aura AI, the Meta Muse flagship costs 4 credits, the same as GPT Image 2, while the 1 and 2 credit tiers undercut Nano Banana Pro at 3 credits. Try the 2 credit tier first and escalate only if the result falls short.
